Welcome to Photo Journalism! In our increasingly digital world, photography plays a key role in news dissemination. Mobile phone users can now documenting world events, sharing their story over the Internet. As traditional newspapers are struggling and staffs are cut, the use of freelance photographers is growing. This course looks at how journalism, and visual storytelling, is captured through the use of images, video, and sound.

You will need a digital camera in order to participate in this course. The camera in your cell phone does not qualify as a camera for the purpose of this course. However, it is not necessary to have a SLR (single lens reflex) camera for this class. If you don't already own a digital camera, an inexpensive camera like the Canon Powershot, Nikon Coolpix, Olympus T-100, Panasonic Lumix, or the Kodak Easy Share will be fine.
